A USA WW1 P17 Remington bayonet, dated 1917, with the rare WW2 re-issue unit mark for the MTC(Mechanised Transport Corps) On the throat of the scabbard is the unit and weapon number MTC  549. The MTC was a British women's organisation that initially provided its own transport and uniforms and operated during WWII. It was founded in 1939 by Mrs G. M. Cooke CBE as a women's voluntary civilian organisation as a civilian uniformed organisation that provided drivers for Government departments and other agencies, driving staff cars and ambulances. the excellent blade is 428mm(17"), with no pitting or damage, it is marked at the ricasso Remington 1917, with US and Govt marks on the other side, working spring catch, it is complete with it's original stiff leather scabbard with it's original olive green paint finish, two steel mounts, brass belt hooks on the back of the top mount, the general condition is excellent.
