Stock Status: In Stock

A scarce British Royal Navy Boer war P1888 Lee-Metford bayonet, dated October 1901, all the hilt steelwork and the complete steel mounted leather have the traditional navy black painted rust protection, this was usually removed when the bayonets were later re-issued, this one somehow escaped re-issue and just has the one date mark, the clean blade is 301mm(12"), it is marked at the ricasso on one side with the WD arrow, Enfield makers mark, bend test and two Enfield inspection marks, it has the Crown and V.R, with the date issue mark 10 '01 on the other side, the pommel is marked with the N prefix for Royal Navy, it does have some other markings on the other side but they are hard to read under the paint, the spring catch is working, the scabbard leather is also marked on the back with the WD arrow, the blade has some small patches of age related marking otherwise the general condition is excellent.
